The PPT is a stimulus for a bit of spoken practice of the Accusative. The first slide acts as homepage: students select a letter from the homepage and are hyperlinked to a slide; they then have to say create a sentence saying they would like to have/own/but the animal pictured, using the on-screen help to get the Accusative right.

Resources for the Sainsbury's WW1 Christmas Ad

(i) A link to the ad (ii) As faithful a transcript of the TV ad as I can get onto a sheet of A4, with some stage directions, plus a sequence of activities. (iii) a story board activity (iv) a PPT with stills from the film, to which students should supply their own text and (v) an exploded version of the dialogue for the students to reconstruct. I've added in a couple of additonial speech bubbles to pack it out a bit.

Scene from the film KOKOWÄÄH

I showed my KS4 classes the Til Schweiger film KOKOWÄÄH and they loved it. Some of the scenes are very accessible in terms of the language level, so I transcribed one of the scenes and added some activities. You'll need a copy of the film, though.

A Powerpoint which (i) step by step builds up a grammatical table to demonstrate the adjectival endings needed when desribing places in a town and (ii) presents pairs of real and fictitious characters which form the basis for paired speaking activities.

Plenaries to go - in German

These are plenary ideas I've previously ulpoaded in English. I&'ve had a go at creating some TL versions. (The ideas themselves have been collected from a number of sources.)
Tierversuche Pro und Contra

Tierversuche Pro und Contra

Group activity followed by discussion and essay. Students have to cut out 18 opinion cards and sort them into Pro and Contra groups. They then have to create a diamond nine with each set, before using these as reference materials for a discussion. Finally there is the inevitable essay title.

Das schlimmste Hotel der Welt?

(8)
Challenging text based partly on an article about a hotel in Holland that claims to be the worst hotel in the world and partly on real complaints about hotels found on TripAdvisor. (The first paragraph contains an unpleasant, but true, reference to dog faeces, so may not suit all tastes and classes!) The text is followed by, some grammar, comprehension questions in English, a 'find the phrase' exercise, a manipulation exercise, a translation into English, a bit more grammar (weil and obwohl), a speaking task and a writing task.

Globale Probleme

Globale Probleme

Two resources for able KS4 students. The first is a vocab match-up activity to introduce students to some key vocab relating to Global Problems. The second is a text relating to Global Problems, followed by a True / False / Not in Text activity, a sentence building activity using a toolkit to help students quantify their levels of concern, plus some questions for students to answer about what should or should not be done in order to improve things. (The text is watered down from a text I originally wrote for Lernpunkt Deutsch.)

Ma Ville DEVINETTE

Powerpoint for practising places in a town. Each slide has a severely cropped image of a place in a town. Students have to say what they think it is. The following slide reveals the full image, and a further click will reveal the relevant French word.

Qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans ma chambre?

Powerpoint with images of celebrities, designed to stimulate speculation, and possibly even debate, about what they have in their bedroom. The second version of the Powerpoint leads in with an introduction to / revision of the use of adjectives in French and provides support for the descriptions.
